A flexible network using nature’s rebar
Due to cellulose’s high crystallinity, the individual CNFs have tensile strength multiple times higher than iron, and can withstand high temperatures, volatile pH and very saline environments. This means that there is a broad range of systems where CEBINA can impart their functionality – thixotropic rheology, membranes, reinforcement. Uniquely, we have utilized these properties to create water-and solvent-free masterbatches that allow CEBINA to be added to epoxy, polyurethane, and many other systems!
Just a small dose of CEBINA into a suspension creates a spontaneously assembled network that thickens the system while remaining flexible. This network is key! Unlike many other conventional additives, CEBINAs rheology control is largely unaffected by temperature and pH, and instead adapts to shear forces, making sprayable coatings more stable—even on angled surfaces like walls and ceilings. When dried, the network is maintained. This can introduce membrane properties or improve strength and bonding in in paper, fibreboards, cement and a variety of other materials.
