Global Compact
Norske Skog ASA is a participant in the UN Global Compact, the United Nations’ voluntary initiative to promote responsible business practices worldwide. Launched in 1999 by then UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, the Global Compact is built on ten principles covering human rights, labour standards, environmental responsibility, and anti-corruption. By supporting the Global Compact, Norske Skog commits to integrating these principles into its strategy, operations, and corporate culture.
The UN Global Compact brings together a global network of businesses, governments, trade unions, civil society organisations, and the United Nations. It is dedicated to fostering dialogue and coordinated action in support of a sustainable and inclusive global economy.
The Global Compact is a voluntary initiative with two primary objectives:
- To integrate the Ten Principles into business strategies and operations worldwide
- To advance actions that support the goals of the United Nations
Our core values—openness, integrity, and cooperation—together with our policies and guidelines, are grounded in the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact.
