At Norske Skog, we want to minimize our impact on nature and the environment. To do that, we make sure that our environmental management programs and standards are an integral part of all our activities.
We take responsibility for following the principles of sustainable development. As well, we strive to continuously improve our environmental performance. Our mills set annual targets for key environmental performance indicators, and report their performance every month within the company.

We ensure that our fibre raw material originates from forests that are managed in a way that retains productivity and biodiversity. We also find ways to reduce our energy consumption, and we take an interest in promoting alternative energy sources.

All our mills operate in accordance with relevant legislation and statutory requirements, of course. But we try to do more. In many cases, we set stricter standards for our activities than national or local governments.

Where appropriate we use externally verified standards (e.g. ISO 14001) to ensure that our management and wood purchasing systems help us to achieve our goals and targets.
