Reopening of “Eastern Line” celebrated!
16/10/2023
Last week, we joined the Norwegian rail operator Bane NOR to celebrate the reopening of a railway track in Eastern Norway after years of disuse. The line will provide additional timber transportation for our Saugbrugs mill and lessen the dependence on fossil-based road transportation 🚂

“Between 60 and 70 per cent of our timber now comes by rail. This removes 15,000 trucks a year from the roads,” says Carsten Dybevig, Vice President Communication and Public Affairs at Norske Skog.
For now, the Eastern Line will only be used as an alternative when the main line is closed for repairs. But Norske Skog will continue pushing for a permanent solution, which will be good for business and the climate 🌿
