Transforming Norske Skog

2025 marks a pivotal year for Norske Skog with the completion of our largest investment since 1962 - a EUR 320 million conversion at our Golbey mill in France. This transformation shifts a former newsprint line into a state-of-the-art packaging paper line (PM1), reinforcing our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and market diversification.

With a capacity of 550,000 tonnes, PM1 strengthens Norske Skog’s position as a key player in the European packaging market, following the success of our Bruck mill, which has produced 210,000 tonnes of packaging paper since 2023. This strategic move reduces reliance on traditional newsprint while unlocking new growth opportunities.

En historisk milepæl er nådd - Norske Skog Golbey startet produksjon av emballasjepapir

Norske Skog har nådd en viktig og historisk milepæl med oppstarten av resirkulert emballasjeproduksjon ved Golbeyfabrikken. Den totale investeringen på omtrent 400 millioner euro gjør dette til den største enkeltinvesteringen i Norske Skogs historie. Den toppmoderne emballasjemaskinen vil øke Norske Skogs kapasitet for emballasjepapir med 550 000 tonn, noe som bringer konsernets totale kapasitet for emballasjepapir opp til 760 000 tonn. Norske Skog er en ledende og uavhengig leverandør av resirkulert emballasjepapir i Europa.

Milestone event with start of containerboard production at Norske Skog Golbey

Norske Skog has reached an important and historic milestone with start of recycled containerboard production at the Golbey mill. The total investment of approximately EUR 400 million makes it the single largest investment in Norske Skog’s history. The state-of-the-art containerboard machine will increase Norske Skog's containerboard capacity with 550 000 tonnes bringing the group’s total containerboard capacity to 760 000 tonnes. Norske Skog is a leading independent supplier of recycled containerboard in Europe.

Increased packaging paper deliveries

Norske Skog reported an EBITDA of NOK 612 million in the first quarter of 2025 up from NOK 33 million in the previous quarter, mainly due to the final insurance settlement of NOK 560 million at Norske Skog Saugbrugs. Norske Skog continued to increase the market share for both publication paper and packaging paper in the quarter, despite continued pressure on utilisation rates and profitability in the industry.
