Opening of biocomposite plant with signing of long-term customer agreement
Minister of Trade and Industry, Jan Christian Vestre, officially opened the new biocomposite plant at Norske Skog Saugbrugs in Halden on 16 May 2022. Norske Skog sees great commercial and environmental potential in the production of biocomposite through the subsidiary CEBICO AS.
Norske Skog's mill in Boyer, Southern Tasmania, has received a total grant of AUD 4 million from the Tasmanian and federal governments!
Patrick Dooley, general Manager at Boyer: “Adding Norske Skog's AUD 2.9 million commitment, we can deploy an AUD 6.9 million package of initiatives to support the long-term future of the Boyer mill, allowing us to reduce emissions, keep costs down and continue to deliver an Australian source of newsprint.”
Norske Skog Saugbrugs awarded research funding for nanocellulose and biocomposite investment
Norske Skog Saugbrugs, together with its research and industry partners, has been granted NOK 60 million in research funding from the Research Council of Norway and Innovation Norway under the Green Platform Programme. The portfolio of products to be developed aims to remove or greatly reduce the use of petroleum-based raw materials and harmful materials, as well as to contribute to increased recycling of plastics.

Minister of Transportation to attend railroad timber terminal opening at Hauerseter
Norske Skog at Saugbrugs, in collaboration with Nortømmer and Viken Skog have established the company Tømmerterminal Hauerseter AS, a privately owned railroad terminal for loading timber by rail. On Wednesday 19 January, the official opening will be attended by Norwegian Minister of Transport Jon-Ivar Nygård.
